About Our Company and Our Boss
Founding
In 1992, Rob Heilig opened Heilig's Plumbing and Electrical in a garage on his home property. He started with two men and one truck. This first team was made up him and his brother-in-law who shared the idea of doing quality work and taking care of clients. This idea is still implemented today, and we treat people the way we would want to be treated.
It didn't take long for the company to out grow its space. The original garage didn't have adequate storage or office space to support the business. This prompted the move to our current location and the founding of Builder's Way, an office park for service industry businesses.
Philosophy
We believe in quality of work. We strive to always give you the best of our knowledge, experience, and effort when you invite us into your home or business. We understand that when you hand us your keys, you are putting your trust in us, and we take that very seriously.
At Heilig's, we never stop learning. We take classes on new technology and techniques, go to trade shows to learn about new products, and watch the home-building trends around the country. This allows us to offer our clients the most up-to-date and qualified information and services possible.
We are dedicated to professional conduct, sharing our knowledge with other businesses in our industry, and supporting the trades in our area. To that end we are members of several professional organizations.
PHCC - Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors
ABC - Associated Builders and Contractors
GCEMA - Garrett County Electrical Mechanical Association
NFPA - National Fire Protection Association
Being a part of these organizations allows us to share our knowledge and experience and gain valuable insight into the needs of our clients. We are proud to work with them towards a better community and industry.

Rob Heilig is originally from Bowie, Maryland. He served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, where he learned the discipline, leadership, and integrity that makes up the backbone of our
Community Involvement
At Heilig's, we believe in helping our community and our Veterans any way we can. We are honored to be a part of and support organizations such as:
The Marine Corps League
Toys-for-Tots
The American Legion
The VFW
The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce
Many local sports, kids programs, school events, and local charities

The new building offered new opportunities. Rob had been teaching classes for years to help others in the area obtain their Master Plumber or Electrician Licenses so we created a dedicated classroom space. These classes would continue for 15 years, send 4 Apprentices to Nationals, and help many people move up in their careers. This dedication to education and promoting the trades is at the core of what we do.
